Emergence of Sharia law courts in the UK and freedom

You'll find a lot of people complaining about the rise in Islamism in western countries. One aspect in particular gets people hot under the collar and that's Sharia law courts.

The accusation is that Islam is creeping not just into our society but our legal system and that Islamic law is seen as unjust.

They're "enforcing their rules in our country".

For me freedom includes the freedom to sign away your own rights if your freedoms means so little to you. On the US TV show Judge Judy you sign a contract to agree to her judgement. Nothing wrong with that. No one has to adhere to any Sharia law arbitration process if they don't want to.

I have no doubt that stories of women being bullied into these courts are true which is why we should concentrate on that problem since it is already illegal.
